Our Story

Providing a dynamic space where children, youth, businesses and the community are valued and integrated.

The Blue Roof in Wentworth, South of Durban, was originally a notorious nightclub. In 2005 the space was reinvented for good when Alicia Keys and Keep a Child Alive (KCA) turned it into a wellness centre for comprehensive HIV treatment. It was under this mandate that it provided HIV services and support to thousands of people.

In 2016, KCA gave Zoëlife the opportunity to take Blue Roof through a second transformation so that it would be able to better meet the needs of the community.

Blue Roof has become a symbol of sustainable upliftment.  It is a place of healing.  A place where the community comes to encounter the power of the Holy Spirit working through the hearts of volunteers who genuinely love the people they impact.

The Blue Roof vision remains focussed on three core areas of influence:

  1. To provide a space where the ideas, voices and solutions of children, youth and the community are valued and integrated.

  2. To offer support to students and young adults as they make subject and workplace decisions through the state-of-the-art Career Guidance Centre and then to link individuals to a job or entrepreneurial opportunities.

  3. To give age-appropriate healthcare and support to people with issues including HIV, abuse, malnutrition and mental health concerns.
